In a meeting with his Excellence Vice President of India Bhairon
Singh Shekhawat at the end of my annual exhibition tour in India
in April/May 2006 I had the opportunity to remember common roots
of European Sinti and Roma and India and to emphasize and promote
more efforts of Indian government and politics in general in
favour of her sisters and brothers in Europe very often suffering
from precarious economic situation and discrimininative and
racist politics. |

On May l, Katarzyna Pollok met Vice-President Bhairon Singh
Shekhawat in Delhi with a delegation led by Roma Centre Chairman
Shyam Singh Shashi. She apprised Mr. Shekhawat of
Problems faced by Roma in Europe. The delegation
included famous Indian sculptor Padmashri Ram V.Sutar, G.
S. Negi, Madhu Pant, Dr. Hari Singh, Dr. Puran Pal, Virendra
Prabhakar, Shri K. L. Kochar (Secretary of Mr. Shekhawat)

After a meeting with Padmashri Ram V. Sutar organised by Dr.
Shashi and an artistic discussion with the famous artist and
most important sculptor of India, Mr. Sutar gave a signed
copy of one of his well known works to his fellow artist,
Mrs. Pollok.

Indian National Minister for Culture andTourism |

| On initiativeof
Dr. Shyam Singh Shashi, Padma Shri, renowned scholar and poet
and with the important assistance of Mr. Naik and several
personalities of Hindu Heritage Foundation Katarzyna Pollok
was invited by Mr. Jagmohan, National Minister for Culture
and Tourism to a short but intensive personal meeting, where
I could present parts of my artwork and explain my arduous
interest in Indian culture.
Mr. Jagmohan acknowledged my artwork very friendly
and promised to help me in my efforts of retracing my Indian
roots, especially the roots of my people they have left till
today in Indian arts and culture, spirituality and tradition.
The minister invited me to return to India for a few months
in the spring of 2003 - Thank you all!
I am still glad to also be supported by my Roma
brother Dr. Hristo Kyuchukov, the Secretary General of the
International Romani Union, who also took part in the inauguration
of my Delhi exhibition a few days earlier.
